System CrashPosted on July 26th, 2008 @ 11:44 am
Last night my site was not working, for how long I don’t know. It was at least a few hours, because I eventually went to bed and then, this morning, it’s back!
Now, this isn’t a big deal at all really, occassional server problems are expected, and this is the first time I’ve ever had a problem. The issue was I hadn’t ever backed up my Wordpress database. Stupid, I know! It just didn’t ever occur to me. Well, this taught me a lesson because the first thing I did this morning was export the database to my computer. I’m going to make a new backup every week. Lesson learnt!

Financial Pop Quiz!Posted on July 26th, 2008 @ 11:06 am
I try to be wise with money. Really, I do.
Most of the time I think I succeed, putting most of my pay cheque away for savings such as school or traveling in the future. Other times, I succumb to the pressure that is clothes, shoes, jewelery and technology! But that’s normal, right?!
I took this Bills IQ quiz to find out my financial health, or in other words, how financially “fit” I was, judging on my answers of dealing with various financial situations. It was an interesting and informative quiz. I did pretty well on it (92 %, an A!) but to be fair, I haven’t had the full responsibility of all financial burdens just yet. But I will soon enough, and I want to make sure I stay on top of my credit. If you want to take the Bills IQ quiz for yourself, it can be found here.
I think no matter how much I am tempted to spend on consumer goods, I’ll remember to continue saving and spending my money wisely. Indulging too much in retail therapy can quickly lead to Credit card debt, and from there, high interest rates, bad credit, collection agencies, Credit counseling, Debt consolidation and god forbid, Bankruptcy.
Remember, if you are seeking Debt relief, there is Debt help available. You can Consolidate debt to keep interest rates lower and payments manageable.
Money Woes Haiku:
Walking by I see
An excellent pair of shoes
So hard to resist

Fashion Find FridayPosted on July 25th, 2008 @ 8:10 pm
Ahh, silly me meant to do this LAST Friday, but it totally went by without me remembering. Ugh, spacey. But at least I’m remembering this Friday, right?
I want to start a weekly thing where I showcase a fashion find I’ve stumbled across on the Internet. This could be anything fashion related (clothes, shoes, accessories, trends, styles) that I either love, hate or find incredibly amusing. And what I want anyone who happens to read this is.. SHARE YOUR OPINIONS! Do you love it? Hate it? Agree or disagree with me? Please don’t be shy! I would love to interact with some of my readers, comments make me happy!
So, without further ado..this Fashion Find Friday!
VINTAGE GUCCI SUNGLASSES
featured on Free People
I coincidentally came across these sunglasses at a time when I was looking for new sunglasses. Not that I could afford these amazing sunglasses or anything! But that doesn’t stop me from loving them to death. I think their quirky shape really makes them stand out from other shades. I love the gradient on the lenses, plus the brown tint really does embody the “Vintage” feel of them! Anywhere else making a similar pair that is easier on the wallet? It is Gucci after all!
What do you think of them?

Exploring Windows VistaPosted on July 25th, 2008 @ 10:55 am
I’ve been using Windows Vista (Home Premium edition) on my laptop for just under a year now. Before I received my laptop which came with Vista pre-installed, I used Windows XP Professional for many years.
I immediately noticed a difference between the two Operating Systems. Windows Vista has had an entire makeover from it’s older sibling. Except for the Windows logo on the start menu, I hardly recognize any similarities appearance wise between Vista and XP. The design of Vista is greatly improved from XP. I find Vista easy to navigate and all aspects of the design visually pleasing.
An entire new feature of Windows Vista is the Widget ready desktop. I love this feature as it’s just plain fun. I have a number of useful Widgets on my desktop that I use every day (weather, the to-do list and the calendar being a few!) and they’re very useful and a great time saver.
Overall, I think Windows Vista is a well rounded Operating system that has kept all the Windows conveniences while improving on functionality. I have had no compatibility issues while using Vista. Because of all the added features of Windows Vista, it should have at least two gigabytes (GB) of memory. This minor adjustment greatly improved the performance of my laptop (It came with only 1 GB). Also, make sure to have Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed for important improvements in performance and security! Enjoy Windows Vista and all it has to offer.

Crack of dawnPosted on July 25th, 2008 @ 10:31 am
I got up at 10 today, and I feel tired getting up that early (late?). Sad!
For the first time in weeks, instead of being nice and sunny, it’s overcast. It’s weird to look out the window and see the dull grey sky, I guess I’ve been taking the nice weather for granted.
I better get going on the day, I got up at 10 for a reason so I could get some stuff accomplished, finally! I hope I do.
