Busy daysPosted on August 21st, 2008 @ 7:33 pm
I didn’t have the use of my laptop for the majority of today, and sadly enough, this allowed me to be way more productive in terms of schoolwork. I did get quite a bit done which is satisfying and a relief. Though I do do a lot of my schoolwork on the computer, it’s also a source of endless distractions.
Speaking of my laptop, yesterday it was upgraded to 2 GB memory (it only came with 1 GB) and boy what a difference! It is much less laggy and overall more snappy in performance. Yay!
I don’t know exactly why, but lately it just feels like Fall is in the air. To me, at least. This summer has passed, so so quickly it seems like one large blur. I do like Autumn (though on the west coast it is more foggy and rainy than the sunshine-filled Fall weather in Ontario). Fall is exciting because lots of new things are going on.
I just requested a decline of my work hours to limit them to only weekends. I really do want the main focus of my time to be school so once it really starts up full swing next month I need the time. I really don’t want to quit completely though, so I thought that was a nice compromise. Hopefully I am able to be this flexible in when I want to work. We’ll see!

New BabyPosted on August 8th, 2008 @ 5:56 pm
My refurbished iPod Touch arrived this morning from apple. It took less then two days to get here, which was unexpected but great. To put it out there, Apple refurbished products are good as new. It came flawless, absolutely no scratches whatsoever and works like a charm. I really recommend a refurbished iPod Touch (Directly from Apple only! Check their online store for refurbs). You save a lot of money while still getting a great product.
I’m not even going to try to write a proper review of this, because I’m no good at it and don’t know what I’m talking about but so far I love this gadget, it’s interface is ingenious and it’s very intuitive. Also it’s just plain fun to use. I decided I am not going to jailbreak it, but instead add what free apps I want from the App store. I might be missing out a bit but I really don’t feel comfortable doing that, and besides, there are some pretty decent free applications out there.
Well enough ramblings. I’ll get to know this unit more over the next few days, especially the Wi-Fi feature. Here’s a few pictures of some iPod porn (though they’re not very good pictures themselves..)

The wallpaper is from Poolga.
I’m trying really hard not to scratch while I’m waiting for my case to arrive!

Lazy daysPosted on August 6th, 2008 @ 2:03 pm
An unfortunate side effect of hot weather is laziness. It’s so hard to concentrate long enough to actually accomplish anything! Or do I just have that problem? I’ll blame it on the heat. The weather is actually more mild today, but I’ve still been pretty unproductive.
Well, in today’s geek news, I bought a refurbished iPod Touch directly from Apple yesterday, and it just shipped this morning. I’m a little nervous that it’s refurbished, but it is directly from Apple and they guarantee it to be like new, so in good faith I’m sure it will be fine. I saved quite a bit of money, and I just couldn’t justify the price of a new one. They definitely are pricey. But yes, I caved and got one, refurbished or not! It should arrive in a few days, and once I get the chance to try it out I’ll post an (attempt) at a review. Also, anyone who is wondering if refurbished iPod Touches are alright, I’ll share what condition it came in (Please no scratches!).
Heh, who knew they had such things like horse supplements for, obviously, horses? I definitely didn’t.

System CrashPosted on July 26th, 2008 @ 11:44 am
Last night my site was not working, for how long I don’t know. It was at least a few hours, because I eventually went to bed and then, this morning, it’s back!
Now, this isn’t a big deal at all really, occassional server problems are expected, and this is the first time I’ve ever had a problem. The issue was I hadn’t ever backed up my Wordpress database. Stupid, I know! It just didn’t ever occur to me. Well, this taught me a lesson because the first thing I did this morning was export the database to my computer. I’m going to make a new backup every week. Lesson learnt!
