ElectionPosted on October 10th, 2008 @ 12:27 pm
Not to go all political on you, but I think will anyway. It seems the Presidential election in the United States is greatly overshadowing the upcoming Canadian Federal election (on October 14th). I agree the U.S electon is crucial, whereas the Canadian election will probably result in the same as the last - a Conservative minority.
I appeal to all Canadian voters - which party are you voting for come October 14th? Americans - how about you?
I’m just curious.

This week’s Fashion Find Friday is Bubble Skirts
Bubble skirts are difficult to figure out. They have the ability to be cute, sophisticated and stylish or frumpy and disheveled depending on the length, color and who wears them. I’ve seen a few bubble skirts that work perfectly, and look really nice - but I’ve seen many more that are quite frankly disastrous! Here’s a look at a few:

This could easily be the most hideous bubble skirt of them all. I unfortunately don’t know the brand or “designer” but there’s a number of things I don’t like about this skirt. The skirt is much too puffy at the bottom and would resemble a huge diaper. The colours and pattern reminds me of an 80’s workout suit. While it is an amusing, erm, piece of attire I don’t think it works, at all!

The bubble skirt above is much different. For one, it is a safer solid brown colour as opposed to a technicolor mashup (see first). The skirt is also longer in length and the “puff” less obvious. Some would say this skirt is boring, but I personally like it and think this is the only way bubble skirts do work nicely - toned down and understated!

This third bubble skirt is a nice compromise between the two. It’s a satin black that is a bit more dramatic then the brown but is still tasteful. The little bows throughout add interest and are super cute. The bottom is definitely defined but somehow works, I think because of the length of the skirt. I could definitely see this skirt dressed up with some black stockings and a nice top. I think this is my favourite of the two (I’m not even acknowledging the first one from now on
)
What is your opinion on the three bubble skirts featured today? Do you like bubble skirts in general? Why or why not? Do you own any yourself? Please share your tastes and if you liked this, please help me out by stumbling my FFF series! Thanks

Is the media giving Barack Obama an unfair advantage?Posted on August 6th, 2008 @ 4:00 pm
I bet you’re thinking, good god, what topic do I NOT cover? I’ve already made it well known my love of fashion, then there’s the technology geek in me, and now I’m dabbling with politics.
Well what’s behind this is an interesting discussion for debate was brought to my attention today, though the rumors have been circulating for a while. There are allegations that the media is giving Barack Obama an unfair advantage in this Fall’s election, with much more attention, buzz, photos and air time then that given to John McCain.
I agree that there is definitely a hype with Obama, though I don’t think it’s unfair. Yes, I’m biased in that I would like to see him win as opposed to a republican. I think anyone who pays attention to the media would say with certainty there is a public fixation with him, probably due to a number of factors. One, he stands out because, omgz I said it, he’s black and also because he is younger then previous presidential candidates. Two, he’s good looking which is always a help and Three, he’s a democrat, so if the media’s views are left wing, they are going to favour him.
So no, things aren’t completely even from a media standpoint, but that’s to be expected. I imagine the more conservative media such as CNN would be favouring John McCain so it’s always a balance. In the end, who will be president will be determined by America, and I think they’re ready for Ch-ch-changes!
