Fashion Find FridayPosted on August 29th, 2008 @ 1:11 pm
Today, since it certainly seems like Fall, and Fall is approaching, I thought I’d showcase the “Fall 2008″ trends. These trends among others were featured at the NYC Fashion Week earlier this year. I’m pretty sure these trends won’t show up in the clothing I can actually afford yet, but it’s fun to get an idea of what’s going in the high fashion world. So let’s go!

All Photos: Glam.com. Images © their respective owners
Trend #1: Peaked/Padded shoulders
Oh my god, is the padded shoulders trend from the eighties making a return? Say it isn’t so. These are of course a little more classy then the padded shoulders of the pastel pantsuit of the day, but nevertheless, I see the inspiration..
Trend #2: Flapper
In my opinion, this is a trend that could produce a lot of cute stuff. I love the tiny dresses of the flapper style and their beautiful details such as the beading.
Trend #3: Plaid
I am super stoked on this. I love plaid and think it works great on the dress seen here.
Trend #4: Western/Native American inspired
I really love how well they’ve translated this into an entire outfit. I love the fringe on the dress and boots. Speaking of the boots, I want them. What a beautiful colour of blue!
Trend #5: One shouldered Evening Gown
I love this style of dress. They really make a statement while the shiny slate colour looks so elegant. I love how they’re off the shoulder and how poofy and lightweight the dress looks.
Wow..there is definitely some interesting stuff in the Fall season! I like the majority of what I have featured here. What I would also like to see: Houndstooth/Animal prints (what a surprise!). Do you like the Fall 2008 trends or are they way off the mark? Please share!

Let’s get comfyPosted on August 26th, 2008 @ 11:58 am
I forgot to mention, yesterday while at the mall I tried on some uggs. The real UGG Australia ones.. and OMG. They are so ridiculously comfy it’s unbelievable. I felt like I was walking on a cloud. Even if they are considered ugly, they’re too good to pass up. I plan to get some semi soon, in time for the cooler weather (not that it’s warm right now or anything..) I’m looking round the internet to see if I can get them cheaper then buying them in the stores but so far, with the cost of shipping I don’t save anything whatsoever.
But seriously.. if you haven’t already, try some on and see for yourself (the REAL ones!).

For this Fashion Find Friday, I’m wondering if anyone shares my love of animal prints (fake, of course!). I think they’re really fun and work very well on a range of clothing, shoes and accessories. Myself, I own a pair of flats are cheetah print, and also my duvet cover is cheetah print. But of course it’s not limited to just the kitties.. I also love zebra print. I’m not sure why, but I’m not too fond of giraffe print. Here’s some fashionable things that showcase animal prints:

Dooney and Bourke Zebra Print Handbag (Only a mere $450!
)

Asos Leopard Print Open back top (I WANT THIS!!)

American Apparel Zebra print leggings
(It’s funny, before I even saw the name I knew A.A would have made these!)
There you have it, what do you guys think of what I featured here? What do you think of animal prints used in fashion?

Fashion Find FridayPosted on August 15th, 2008 @ 10:22 pm
For this week’s Fashion Find Friday, is a pretty exhausted topic, sorry guys, but I’m exhausted, myself! I promise better next week!
CROCS

Crocs are the brand name of a very distinguishable style of shoe. It’s often spotted on small kids, housewives at the grocery store, and hospital workers. Some swear by Crocs for their comfort and convenience, but I think it’s generally agreed they’re ugly as hell. Does anyone actually think they are attractive appearance wise?! If so, that’s a first.
I’ve never owned or tried on crocs, so I can’t say for myself if they are indeed more comfortable than other types of shoes. (If you’re sacrificing style, which you DEFINITELY are, they better be pretty darn comfortable!!) Maybe someone can vouch for me on that on how comfortable they are. I don’t really understand what the holes are for, I guess they distinguish them from normal clogs? Or maybe for “breathability”. My conclusion: Crocs are not benefiting style in any way, I would only recommend for the supposed comfort factor, but not in public.
What are your thoughts on Crocs?

This week’s Fashion Find Friday is Bubble Skirts
Bubble skirts are difficult to figure out. They have the ability to be cute, sophisticated and stylish or frumpy and disheveled depending on the length, color and who wears them. I’ve seen a few bubble skirts that work perfectly, and look really nice - but I’ve seen many more that are quite frankly disastrous! Here’s a look at a few:

This could easily be the most hideous bubble skirt of them all. I unfortunately don’t know the brand or “designer” but there’s a number of things I don’t like about this skirt. The skirt is much too puffy at the bottom and would resemble a huge diaper. The colours and pattern reminds me of an 80’s workout suit. While it is an amusing, erm, piece of attire I don’t think it works, at all!

The bubble skirt above is much different. For one, it is a safer solid brown colour as opposed to a technicolor mashup (see first). The skirt is also longer in length and the “puff” less obvious. Some would say this skirt is boring, but I personally like it and think this is the only way bubble skirts do work nicely - toned down and understated!

This third bubble skirt is a nice compromise between the two. It’s a satin black that is a bit more dramatic then the brown but is still tasteful. The little bows throughout add interest and are super cute. The bottom is definitely defined but somehow works, I think because of the length of the skirt. I could definitely see this skirt dressed up with some black stockings and a nice top. I think this is my favourite of the two (I’m not even acknowledging the first one from now on
)
What is your opinion on the three bubble skirts featured today? Do you like bubble skirts in general? Why or why not? Do you own any yourself? Please share your tastes and if you liked this, please help me out by stumbling my FFF series! Thanks
