Last night my site was not working, for how long I don’t know.  It was at least a few hours, because I eventually went to bed and then, this morning, it’s back!

Now, this isn’t a big deal at all really, occassional server problems are expected, and this is the first time I’ve ever had a problem.  The issue was I hadn’t ever backed up my Wordpress database. Stupid, I know!  It just didn’t ever occur to me.  Well, this taught me a lesson because the first thing I did this morning was export the database to my computer.  I’m going to make a new backup every week.  Lesson learnt!

Okay! So this is the new layout. Wuah-wuah-wuah. Haha, I’d love to hear people’s opinions, good or bad.  I have a lot to tweak and I also have to create a single page template because the title isn’t displaying right when you click on an single entry.  But I think it looks really good from the homepage so just ignore it for now!

It’s pretty plain.  The tree is a doodle I sketched which took me all of 10 seconds.  Then I took a picture of it (I didn’t even bother to scan it, sad eh).

Vancouver tomorrow! I’m stoked. I really need to get out so this trip comes at a perfect time.  I’ll have to get up pretty earlier but at least it’s for something fun, not work.  Plus I plan on getting one of those super huge, artery clogging breakfasts I so rarely indulge in and food is a GREAT motivator for me!

Now that I’ve got the layout to this point, I should really do something else.. productive offline.

EDIT: Switched back until I can make the template, will return to the new theme shortly!

EDIT 2: It’s back up!

I know you guys are on the edge of your seat concerning THE NEW LAYOUT!  Well I’ve had about 4 cups of tea so I’m finally ready to get working on it again for today.  I found a plugin that I am just activating now (Hope it works) that will allow me to work on and test drive the new theme without affecting my readers at all.  You will still see this theme and nothing will be screwed up.

So that’s where I am..progress will be made today.

I’ve got a new layout in the works! I’m not even close to being done, but I have something to build on (one of my own sketches) and I think it will turn out to be a very simple but okay theme.  I’m going to be working on it the next few days whenever time allows so if my site is on Maintenance Mode that’s what I’m doing!

I’m going to call it a day for now though, so very tired.
